The Mob Squad returns to take on last month’s champion Honeys

October 7th, 2011 Providence, RI- If you think PRD’s season opener was intense, just wait until you see what’s in store for October.  In their first appearance since Fall 2010, the Mob Squad, led by Boss Baby Fighterfly, is dominating street talk in the Providence underworld. Thug recruits War n’ Pieces, Tiger Bomb, Howlin’ Havoc, and Citizen Toxie are raring to get a piece of the action.  Transfer skaters Ruca A. Salt and Sweet Tease are revealing last year’s street rat and pearly white personas as undercover assignments, and now they’re here to show their true colors: black and gold.

The Old Money Honeys will also be taking a break from their demanding tennis and cocktail schedule to show the Mob what Daddy’s money can buy: a whole lotta fierce.  They’re riding high off their recent defeat of the Sakonnet River Roller Rats, and veteran skaters Fo Shizzy Borden, Jetta von Diesel, and Shelby Bruisin’ are ready to put their money where their mouthguard is.

During the bout, PRD’s 50/50 charity raffle will be raising money for an organization close to our hearts: The Girl Scouts of Rhode Island. Then, at halftime, get your groove on with the Run for Covers and their awesome renditions of 80’s-Today hits.

After the last whistle is blown, derby girls know how to leave it all on the track and party down.  Join skaters and fellow fans at Providence Social Club (71 Richmond Street, Providence, RI; above club Hell at what used to be Jerky’s) after the bout, featuring PRD’s favorite: Karaoke with Big Bill Big Brett (temporarily taking Bill’s place).

Providence Roller Derby proudly contributes to our city’s identity as a creative capital by supporting local business and outreach organizations, by cultivating the talents of all its members, and by diversifying the rich spread of DIY options to include all-female, all-authentic athletic exhibition!  Let the inspiration begin!
